Thai green beans with chilies

Ingredients
 
lbs green beans, trimmed
 
Spice mix
1 tsp sugar
¼ tsp salt
½ tsp red pepper flakes
3 Tbsp soy sauce
 
Tbsp oil
1 tsp garlic, press minced
1 cup Thai basil leaves
 


Preparation steps:
  1. Boil the green beans:
    Boil water in a large pot, add the green beans and cook for 6 minutes.
  2. Prepare the spice mix and garlic:
    While the green beans are cooking, mix the sugar, salt, red pepper flakes, and soy sauce in a small bowl.
    Mince the garlic cloves using a garlic press and place them in a separate small bowl.
  3. Stir-fry the green beans (total 4 minutes):
    Once the green beans are cooked, use tongs to transfer them immediately to a wok (without the water).
    Add oil to the wok.
    Stir-fry the green beans over high heat for 1 minute.
    Add the garlic and stir-fry for 1 minute.
    Add the spice mix and stir-fry for 1 minute.
    Add the basil and stir-fry for the last 1 minute.
