Thai green beans with chilies

1 lbs green beans, trimmed
½ medium onion, diced
1 each red jalapeno chili, seeded and minced
2 Tbsp oil
½ tsp garlic, minced
3 Tbsp soy sauce
½ tsp sugar
¼ tsp salt (optional)
½ cup Thai basil leaves

Preparation steps:
  1. In a wok over high heat, stir onion and chilies with oil for 2 minutes. Add garlic and and stir for additional 30 seconds.
  2. Add the green beans and stir for additional 3 minutes on high heat.
  3. Mix in soy sauce, sugar and salt. Cover and reduce to medium-low heat. Cook for 12 minutes.
  4. Add basil and stir additional 2 minute.
