Steamed rice

Ingredients
 
1 ½ cup jasmine rice
 
hot water
 


Preparation steps:
  1. Boil 3 cups water in a large stock pot/steamer set. Additionally boil water in the teakettle.
  2. Pour the rice into a medium size stainless bowl, one that can easily fit in the steamer.
  3. Rinse the rice twice with tap water.
  4. Once the water in the steamer and the teakettle boils, put the rice bowl in the steamer. Pour hot water into the rice bowl, covering the rice with ½ - 1 inch water.
  5. Steam for 30-40 minutes.
Serving: Use a cake spatula to release the rice from the bowl. Flip the stainless bowl onto a serving dish. (see picture)

Take note!
  • The amount can be doubled by using
    an appropriate size bowl.
    The bowl should be less than ½
    full before cooking the rice,
    as the rice absorbs lots of water and
    expands.


Alternatives:
  • Long grain white rice can be used
    instead of the jasmine rice.
