Thai green beans with chili paste

Ingredients
 
1 lbs green beans, trimmed
1 Tbsp oil
 
1 Tbsp roasted chili paste (nam prik pow)
1 Tbsp fish sauce
1 tsp sugar
¼ cup water
 
1 tsp corn starch
2 Tbsp tap water
 
½ cup basil leaves (optional)
 


Preparation steps:
  1. in a small cup, mix the chili paste, fish sauce, sugar, and hot water and set aside.
  2. Heat a wok over high heat, add the oil and green beans, and stir-fry for 2–4 minutes.
  3. Add the chili paste mixture to the wok.
    Cover and simmer for 6 minutes.
  4. Mix the cornstarch with 2 Tbsp water.
    Add it to the wok, stir, cover, and simmer for an additional 4 minutes.
  5. Optional: add basil leaves just before serving.
