Preparation steps: |
- Saute the onions: Heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
Add the chopped onions and saute until light brown, about 15 minutes.
- Combine ingredients: Place the rice mix in a medium pot and rinse with water.
Add sauteed onions, water, chicken soup powder, and salt to the pot with the rice.
- Simmer the rice: Bring the mixture to a simmer. Cover and cook for 45 minutes.
- Stir the rice: Gently stir the rice once during simmering and a second time after 45 minutes.
- Let it stand: Turn off the heat and let the rice stand, covered, for an additional 15 minutes before serving.
