Recipe amount: 2 - 2½ lbs cheese

White cheese

Ingredients
 
4 lbs plain whole milk yogurt
(2 containers of:
"Trader Joe's plain organic whole milk yogurt"
each container is 2 lbs)
 


Preparation steps:
  1. Line a large bowl with a cheesecloth, and pour the yogurt onto the cloth.
  2. Tie the cloth and hang it for 5-6 hours, so the excess liquids drain away.
  3. Remove the cheese from the cloth and place it in a container. Keep refrigerated.

Background:
An Israeli style white cheese
often labeled by the fat content of 5% or 9%.


Take note!
  • Don't use yogurt which is made with
    corn starch and gum, like the Lucerne brand.
    The liquids don't drain from this type of yogurt.
