Recipe amount: 4 cups


8 oz dry garbanzo beans
½ tsp baking powder
3 cup water
8 oz tahini paste
2 each medium garlic clove
4 Tbsp lemon juice
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 cup cold water
1 tsp salt

Preparation steps:
  1. In a medium pot cook the garbanzo beans, water and baking powder for 2 hours. Strain the water and put aside.
  2. In a blender, process the tahini paste, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, water and salt.
  3. Add the cooked garbanzo beans to the blender, process until it becomes a consistent paste. You may keep some the cooked garbanzo beans to decorate the hummus plate.
Serving: with pita bread.

Take note!
  • Tahini paste is sold in Middle Eastern
    grocery stores in jars of 16 oz. (500gram)
    Use ½ a jar for this recipe.
